Fares shown on this website (Policies page) are valid for the 2012 school year.
Routes 46, 47 and 48 will no longer operate after the end of 2011, please ask your child's school for alternative suggestions. To be eligible, a student must live more than 3.2km from their nearest school if aged under ten, or more than 4.8km from their nearest school if aged ten or over. This distance is measured to their nearest school, even if they are attending a school that is further away. All students will fall into one of four categories as detailed below:
| Attending Nearest | Not Attending Nearest | |
|---|---|---|
| Meets Distance Criteria | Category 1 FREE | Category 4 $330 |
| Doesn't Meet Distance Criteria |
Category 2 $210 | Category 3 $500 |
a) Students who are eligible (meet the distance criteria) and who are attending their nearest school are fully funded by the Ministry of Education. These students receive free transport on buses provided by the Tauranga Network Group. Any eligible student who has to travel more than 2.4km to access a school bus may also qualify for a Conveyance Allowance, which is a daily amount paid by the Ministry of Education to assist students to access a bus system. See your school if you believe this may apply to you.
- Students from the Kaimai area will receive free transport to any secondary school
- Students from Te Puna/Omokoroa etc. will receive free transport to any secondary school
b) Students who live too close to a rural school (Omokoroa Point, Omokoroa School, Tauriko School or Whakamarama School), and would like to use the bus due to the dangerous nature of the road. This category is only applicable where the bus travels past the students on its way to the school anyway, the bus will not divert from its direct route to pick up these students. These students can only use the buses if there is room for them.
All students who are ineligible (do not meet the distance criteria) but are attending their nearest school, with the exception of those rural students who fit into Category 1. These students can only use the buses if there is room for them.
